Hi my name is Wayden, and I am writing this testimonial because I want people to listen and learn from my experiences.
At the age of 14 I was on the verge of getting excluded from mainstream education, because I didn’t know how to control my anger or use my positive attitude in a more assertive way.
My school gave me the option to attend Talent4Life or stay in school, knowing that if I had stayed I would’ve been excluded.
So I came to Talent4Life with a lot of issues and problems, but they helped me and took time to understand me and taught me how to deal with my issues and teaching me that there was other routes to go down in solving different problems, so I learnt how to deal with my issues as an individual.
That helped me a lot because seeing as I can learn much easier practically than I can read and write showing me the different types of learning (kinaesthetic, audio etc).
After being understood and understanding my style of learning I learnt so much in so little time, I was feeling much better about learning the way I was and not winding myself up trying to read books all day and getting frustrated.
Time flew by because I was having fun learning in the way I was good at and knowing my limits here was much greater than they were at school, I was comfortable in my own clothes and the harder I worked the more respect and rewards I gained I had an incentive to work a lot harder.
Before I knew it, it was time to leave and having my qualifications behind me I went on to pursue my ambition.
Now I am 17 years of age, I am working in the British Army seeing the world and working hard, everything I have, I got myself, it feels good and im loving the way I’m living my life.
It’s funny because people who i went to mainstream school with, who got good grades on their GCSE’s are now signed to the job centre seeking employment and they were the people that was doing so much better than me in mainstream education.
School isn’t for everyone which I learnt from Talent4Life especially me! Just because main stream is not for you for whatever reason that does not stop you from achieving the same or better as as everyone else can.
